A great security challenge of our time is to protect free societies from cataclysms brought about by vulnerability to emerging technologies.

Many of today's emerging technologies have risks that threaten civilization and quality of life, or life itself, for billions. In malign hands, emerging tech can become tools of domination or terror on a new scale. Even in responsible hands, they carry risks of disastrous accidents. The temptation to sacrifice liberty for safety is powerful, and will grow.

Many groups have thought about catastrophic risks. But few organizations seek to develop technologies specifically to counter those risks, and to turn those technologies into products that are easy to use at large scale. Governments would normally lead in building such defenses, but the speed of change will increasingly outpace state capacity.

The answer is not to halt progress, but to meet its dangers with wisdom and invention.

Ultra is a new type of company dedicated to building products that prevent or mitigate the consequences of catastrophic risks.

We are doing this by bringing together the best talent in each technology vertical of catastrophic risk, and reinvesting the profits from one vertical to build solutions in the next.

Our team has worked together for over a decade, with prior success in a $1.25 billion software startup exit, scaled deployments across the U.S. military and Fortune 500 companies, and personal experience addressing national and global security problems.

Ultra is a U.S. company based in New York, building technology for all mankind. We are self-funded by our co-founders.
